Coronado Island Marriott Resort and Spa is the perfect family destination in Southern California. From luxury accommodations to resort-style amenities to rooms with a view, the Coronado Island Marriott Resort and Spa has it covered. This property is located just minutes from everything there is to do in San Diego and Coronado Island.
Loyal Marriott Customers for Life
Before I jump into the hotel review, let me explain my love for the Marriott brand. I’ve been staying at Marriott hotels my entire life and I have never been disappointed (and that is saying a lot). This brand is dedicated to ensuring their patrons are comfortable and satisfied during a property stay.
Even though I had high expectations, our stay at the Coronado Island Marriott exceeded those expectations. It was all due to our customer service experience. We had previously booked another Marriott property within the San Diego area. However, after seeing the ocean, we knew we needed to book a hotel with a water view. We called customer service and they were able to waive our cancellation fee and rebook us at the Coronado Island Marriott. We were thrilled with this entire process and this small gesture truly made our vacation perfect.
Ok, on to the hotel review….
The hotel room was spacious and included double-beds, sofa bed, desk, refrigerator, balcony, and a luxurious bathroom. It also had sufficient outlets and USB plugs; a must for a tech traveling family!
Let me tell you, these beds were deliciously comfortable! We had no trouble falling asleep during our stay with Marriott.
Who doesn’t need a bathroom to spread out in? It was very spacious, with lots of counter space and a great shower!
The balcony was our favorite spot to hang out and can you blame us? We had an amazing view of the San Diego skyline!
In my humble opinion, there is nothing like staying at a resort-style hotel. The atmosphere makes you feel as if you are a million miles away from everything. We only had ~24 hours at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort and Spa, however, after a few hours at the pool, we were as relaxed as if we’d spent a week.
While Sweetpea and the Hubs frolicked in the pool, I soaked up the sun and this delicious Mai Tai!
Just walking around the hotel property offered a lot of different sights. This picture is the serene area attached to the spa. We also saw several ducks, a few flamingos, and tons of seagulls during our stay!
Have I ever mentioned that I am obsessed with Marriott bacon? It is perfectly crispy! Anytime we stay at a full service Marriott hotel, we always get the breakfast buffet. The buffet at the Coronado Island Marriott had a few extra fun items that we adored!
They had bowls and bowls of oranges for you to squeeze your own fresh orange juice. Fresh orange juice with an ocean breeze screams “vacation mode.”
They also had the cutest iced coffee bar. I LOVE iced coffee and this treat made for an extra perky morning for me! A Starbucks kiosk for those just wanting a quick cup of coffee with a grab-and-go breakfast item was available in the bar.
Lunch was served at the pool, in the main dining room, and at the bar. We ordered, from the pool bar, the steak nachos and a cheese quesadilla for the three of us to share. It was delicious and we had plenty for us all!
Dinner was served in the main dining room and at the bar. The main dining outdoor area looked dreamy – twinkle lights and fire pits. We chose to eat at an off property restaurant, but regretted not eating at the hotel. The local restaurants were busy and we didn’t get a table until 8:00pm, which is very late for us and the food was just… meh. We know better for next time!
Just on the parameter of the hotel grounds is a walking path that can take you all over Coronado Island. The hotel offers bike rentals for those wanting to see it all; however, there are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The weather was a little cold for the locals while we were there, but we found the temperatures absolutely perfect for an evening stroll.
The famous Hotel Del Coronado is a quick Uber ride (or bike ride) from the Marriott. This hotel is grand and should be seen! We spent a few hours on the beach near the hotel and it was perfect.
If we had more time, we would have loved to walk along Orange Street to visit all the local shops, cafes, and restaurants! A visit to Coronado Island demands a long weekend vs. just 24 hours! We plan to return very soon and of course will be staying at Coronado Island Marriott Resort and Spa.
So, what are you waiting for? Book your next family vacation or luxurious long weekend at Coronado Island Marriott Resort and Spa!
