The Broadmoor Hotel

Discover Luxury @ The Broadmoor

The Broadmoor is a beautiful hotel located at the base of the mountains in Colorado Springs; although it is only an hour from our home, we felt a million miles away from our jobs and daily stresses within just seconds of our arrival.

We highly recommend at least a two-night stay at the Broadmoor. There is so much to see and do, plus, you will want to just spend time relaxing in the cozy nooks tucked all around the hotel. By the end of the 2nd night, you will feel relaxed and re-energized for life!

Arrival and Check-In

Arrival at the hotel and check-in was super speedy and efficient. Our original room was booked in the main building, but we switched rooms to two double-beds at last minute – switching us over to the west building. Joe, an amazing bellhop, helped us find our new room on the other side of the lake. Along the way, he gave us some history of the hotel and we found out that the Broadmoor will be celebrating its 100th birthday next year. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for their celebration!!

Hotel Room

The hotel rooms are large, beautifully decorated with old school charm, and very comfortable. They also have a vanity area separate from the bathroom and a large closet. The bathroom comes with a double sink with lots of counter space. The double shower heads were dreamy!! A fantastic shower!! They even have plenty of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in containers mounted to the shower wall.

Turndown service was also great. The My Little Pony friends were all tucked away with a few chocolates to share with us.

Hotel Grounds

The care and thought the hotel put into each inch of their grounds is impressive. The hotel grounds – both exterior and interior – encourage the soul to slow down and enjoy the simple joys of life.

The exterior hotel grounds are home to some of the most exquisite landscaping in all of Colorado. The lush landscaping offers an intoxicating scent as you stroll along the walking path which circles the lake centered on the hotel grounds. Benches dot the shore line allowing you to take a rest to soak in the serene lake scenes and even watch ducks, swans, and fish enjoy the lake waters. Several fire pits can be found around the property; these offer excellent spots to share a drink with great company.

The interior of the hotel is equally as glorious as the outside. The hotel is filled with beautiful art and décor. Each area has its unique theme – from whimsical to glamourous to downright cozy. These relaxing nooks, all equipped with a roaring fire, warmly invite you to sit for a while and just get lost in your thoughts or a great book.

The Broadmoor has an impressive number of restaurants and bars. We tried out three while visiting the property and they were all wonderful!

Ristorante Del Lago

We made dinner reservations at Ristorante Del Lago on Friday for 6pm. This was just before the crowd came in, so the restaurant was quiet and we got a table by the window overlooking the lake. I loved the ambiance of this restaurant, especially the views of the lake and the open kitchen. The menu had lots of variety! We ordered a cheese and meat plate to share and then each got a pasta dish that we individually devoured (even our 6 year old). Dessert was fun too! Our daughter ordered some cookies from the trolley. What a fun experience!!

The Golden Bee

For drinks and live music, The Golden Bee is a must! For each table, you get a basket of crackers and cheese spread to share. Delicious. And it was the perfect pairing with our beer! Several beers on tap, including Guinness and Harp – two of my favorite, especially together. A handful of kids surrounded the piano player as he played songs from Frozen. Our daughter enjoyed watching from our table and then quietly leaving him a tip. Upon leaving, our waiter tossed bee decals onto our clothes! It was a fun experience and honest-to-god, one of the best places to have a beer.

Espresso News

For breakfast, we needed just a quick bit to eat. We were starving after our morning swim in the large indoor pool and were excited to start our day of exploration. Espressos offered fuel for my soul (coffee, coffee, coffee), bagel for our daughter, and two breakfast burritos for us. Everything was delicious and just what we needed! Espressos is also a newsstand and there is something very intoxicating about the smell of a newsstand.

Nearby Attractions

Force yourself to leave the hotel for a few hours to check out all the great attractions Colorado Springs has to offer. Here is a quick rundown of our favorite Colorado Springs activities:

  • Garden of the Gods
  • Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
  • Seven Falls
  • Pikes Peak
  • Old Colorado City
  • Manitou Springs

Over the years, we’ve visited all of these attractions and loved them. For this visit, we went to Seven Falls. This attraction is actually owned by the Broadmoor! Everything at Seven Falls adhered to the Broadmoor standard of perfection. We decided to walk all 409 steps {round-trip is 818 steps}. Don’t worry though, they have an elevator to the most spectacular views. For those that can climb the stairs, your reward is great hiking along the creek. The trails are wide and well-marked – my kind of hiking! Here are some views of Seven Falls and our hike.

After our hike, we stopped in at Restaurant 1858 and had a terrific salad. It was the perfect ending to a perfect stay at the Broadmoor.

Overall the Broadmoor has something for everyone. Look for deals throughout the year and book a stay! We are hoping to go back in the summer to explore the outdoor pool, golf, and the kid’s club.

Happy Travels!!

The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs is the place to visit if you want to escape your daily stresses! Family fun and luxury combine to make every family member happy!

  1. Great review of the Broadmoor! We are looking to vacation in Colorado Springs and will need to check it out.

  2. Wow, the Broadmoor really is gorgeous! We drove through the property a few years ago when we were staying at Manitou Springs. I felt it was probably out of our price range at the time. Maybe the next time we go to Colorado we can stay a couple of nights. We need to take my youngest again. She was eight months old the last time we went!

  3. I always saw this hotel every time we went to Colorado Springs and thinking about staying there one time in the future. But now that we have a free place at my friend’s in Lonetree, do I have to think again about staying there? 🙂

    1. Your friend lives in the city right next door! If you come to town to visit her, we will need to grab coffee!

  4. Oh my goodness! It looks amazing! I love all of the cozy little nooks and the adorable little library (complete with a sliding ladder at that)! So cute that your daughter tucked in her My Little Pony toys. My daughter would’ve done the same thing with her stuffed animals. 🙂

  5. I’ve only been to Colorado Springs one time and it was really just passing through. This place looks really nice though so I will definitely keep it in mind for our next adventure to Colorado. We were thinking of heading to Pike’s Peak so this might just work! 🙂 Thanks for the info.

  6. This place looks incredible – esp for families! I love the high end food paired with playground, my kind of place! I also love a good turn down service, you dont get that too often anymore!

    1. I agree! There is something special about turn down service. The Broadmoor left chocolate and bottles of water…. plus tucked in the pony friends.

  7. I am fortunate to get to travel to Colorado several times a year, and often visit Colorado Springs. I haven’t had the opportunity to stay at the Broadmoor, but I really would like to after seeing your post! I would love to participate in all of the fun activities and to just relax by that fire with a glass of wine!

    1. I hope you get a chance to visit! If you go during the summer, then you can sit by the amazing pool by day and then fire by night. Kind-of perfection, if you ask me!

  8. I’ve always wanted to stay at the Broadmoor. For some reason, it’s sticking in my mind as part of the inspiration for the Shining. I don’t know why that book has always made me want to go to the Broadmoor, but oh well. I’d love lounging in that library with a cup of tea and stack of novels. The Seven Falls hike looks great!

    1. You are close! The Shining is related to another Colorado hotel, The Stanley Hotel, which is located in Estes Park. We took a ghost tour though that hotel one year and it was really cool!!

    1. We haven’t had a chance to visit the bowling alley yet – just so much to do at the Broadmoor. I think you could stay a week and never feel bored.
